The Bavarian State Minister Martin Zeil and Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch established a high-level advisory body for the Bavarian government, which will provide technical and scientific support for the implementation of the set energy targets and changes in energy policy. The commission "Energy Research and Energy Technologies" is represented by different personalities from the academia and the industry. From the Technische Universität München the University’s President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Faulstich have been appointed to the commission.
"The competency of the commission is demonstrated by the cooperation of research and the economy," State Minister Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch explained to the newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.
By autumn, the commission will develop recommendations which technologies would be most suitable to allow the forthcoming changes in the energy policy and thus to contribute to the sustainable growth of business in Bavaria. To achieve this goal, the following four subject areas were defined, which represent the essence of future research:
(1) Increasing energy efficiency in power generation
(2) Development of storage technologies
(3) Power networks of the future
(4) Efficient use of electrical energy
